Commercial Vehicle Registration
Commercial vehicle registration is dependent on many factors. Please be prepared to answer the following questions when you come to our office to register your commercial vehicle.
Information Needed for Registration
- Whose goods are being hauled? (The registered owner's or someone else's)
- How far are you hauling? (e.g., within Alberta, or into another province or the US)
- What type of goods are being hauled?
- What is the maximum weight your vehicle and load will be? Your registration fee is calculated by weight.
- If you are hauling outside Alberta, you must first contact Prorate at 403-297-2920.
Safety Fitness Certificates & Permits
If your vehicle has a registered weight of 11,794 kg or more, you must have a Safety Fitness Certificate before we can register it. A temporary certificate can be issued by our office, which is valid for 60 days while you apply for a permanent one.
