Learner's License (Class 7)
Congratulations on turning 14 and getting ready to start driving! You can write your knowledge test at our office with no appointment necessary. Please arrive before 4:00 PM on weekdays or 2:00 PM on Saturdays to ensure you have enough time to complete the exam.
To prepare, you can study the Basic Driver's Handbook.
Requirements for Testing
To write your learner's exam, you must provide proof of identity. This includes an original Birth Certificate, Passport, or Canadian Citizenship/Permanent Resident Card, plus a second piece of ID like an Alberta Health card or SIN card.
If you are under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present with their own identification at the time of testing.
Conditions for Learner Drivers
Once you pass the knowledge and vision tests, you will be issued a Class 7 license with the following conditions:
- Must hold the Learner's License for at least one year.
 - Must be accompanied by a fully licensed (non-probationary) driver who is 18 or older and seated next to you.
 - Not permitted to drive between midnight and 5:00 AM.
 - Not permitted to have more passengers than there are seat belts.
 - License will be suspended at 8 demerit points.
 - Must have zero alcohol level.
