Marriage Licenses & Certificates
A Marriage License is valid for three months from the date of issue and can only be used in Alberta. Both partners must be present at our office to apply for the license. Please allow approximately 30 minutes for the application process.
Application Requirements
- Identification: Both partners must present valid photo ID, such as a Driver’s License, Passport, or ID card.
 - Divorce Documents: If either partner has been divorced, they must present the final Certificate of Divorce.
 - Widowed: If either partner is widowed, no proof is required, but you must notify our staff.
 - Parental Information: Both parties must provide the full names and birthplaces of their parents.
 
Special Circumstances & Resources
Additional requirements may apply for special circumstances, such as if an interpreter is needed, if either partner is under 18, or if there are other unique situations. Please contact our office to find out what is required for your specific case.
